Top Finish for Leslie Howard and Tic Tac in $100,000 ESSO Challenge

CALGARY - Leslie Howard of the United States road Tic Tac to the top prize at the $100,000 ESSO Challenger 1.60 metre CSI-W at Spruce Meadows on Sunday.

Howard and Tic Tac, a 10-year-old Belgian Sport Horse stallion owned by Jane Clark, had the prime position as last to go in a seven horse jump-off.

They made a very quick turn back from fences two to three, and from there went on to finish clear in 39.22 seconds for the win.

Christine McCrea of the U.S. and Zerly were second with a time of 40.7 seconds.

Olympian Eric Lamaze of Schomberg, Ont., and Powerplay finished third in 41.19 seconds.

Pablo Barrios of Venezuela and Zara Leandra won the $33,000 West Canadian Cup 1.50m.
