KELOWNA, B.C. - A man who drowned in a B.C. lake over the long weekend has been identified as 42-year-old George Matthew Klein from Whitehorse.

The BC Coroners Service says Klein was at a beach in Wood Lake, north of Kelowna, on Saturday when he drowned.

Police say Klein's jumped in to rescue three boys, including two of his sons, who were caught in strong currents while swimming.

Several family members went in the water after the boys, who were eventually rescued, but Klein did not resurface.

The man's body was recovered later in the day from water about five metres deep, and about 20 metres from the shore.
