Police arrest suspect in Wishford Drive shooting

Police have arrested a suspect in a Monday afternoon shooting in the city's east end that left one man wounded in the shoulder after he was followed down a walkway between residences.

The 34-year-old victim is recovering in hospital. Police say he was approached from behind on Monday at around 3:20 p.m. in the Wishford Drive area.

A suspect brandishing a sawed-off shotgun demanded that the victim hand over his backpack. The man refused and attempted to disarm the suspect and was shot in the shoulder during the struggle.

He was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested 19-year-old Milton Delroy Brown of Toronto. He is facing 15 charges, including aggravated assault and robbery while armed with a firearm. Brown was scheduled to appear at college Park Wednesday morning.
