In May, Alvin Kanak, 72, and his grandson were travelling from Rankin Inlet to Baker Lake when the accident occurred.
Searchers from many communities looked for him for weeks but were unsuccessful. Elders advised the search be called off as fatigue was taking a toll on the volunteers.
On Thursday, a group of searchers from Rankin Inlet and Chesterfield Inlet are scheduled to fly inland to try again.
"We're very fortunate that Agnico-Eagle helps out when they're able to and so now that they are available we are going to have them fly us 100 miles by helicopter to the place where people thought he'd be, so they'll drop us off and pick us up after three days," said Wesley Innukshuk with the search and rescue group in Rankin Inlet.
"We would like to find the body. We've been working hard to find him. We don't want to just leave the body somewhere on the land.”
Kanak has been missing since the morning of May 7.
