VANCOUVER - The 34-year-old man suspected of opening fire on two pedestrians in Vancouver before turning the weapon on himself has died.

Vancouver police say they have no idea why the man suddenly jumped from a car on the city's Main Street late Thursday night and began shooting.

One person was grazed by a bullet, a second pedestrian targeted nearby wasn't hurt, and police say the victims of what appears to be a random attack have no relationship to the gunman or to each other.

Police say officers found the Vancouver man critically injured from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, and the man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead Friday.

Police say the suspect, who hasn't been named, is known to police, but they couldn't say if he had a criminal record.

They say the investigation continues and officers hope to determine what led to the shooting. (The Canadian Press/CKNW)
