Man, 73, hurt in downtown crash dies, U.S. driver charged

A 73-year-old man has died from injuries sustained in a Wednesday afternoon crash at Bay Street and Lake Shore Boulevard that left nine other people injured.

- 10 injured in crash in downtown Toronto.

Police say the crash occurred Wednesday after a car turned into the path of an SUV, causing both cars to hit a lamp post as well as a group of pedestrians.

Const. Wendy Drummond said Friday that a 44-year-old woman and a nine-year-old boy remain in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The others sustained minor injuries.

A 51-year-old man from New Jersey has now been charged with careless driving and is due in court on Sept. 5.

Police have not released any names.
