The Calgary Stampede got off to a better start on day two, after a downpour soaked the grounds and send thousands of fairgoers and rodeo spectators scurrying for cover on Friday.
Attendees were eager to participate in the event even as a thunderstorm watch was issued for Calgary on Saturday.

"I'm a city girl but every July I embrace the Calgary Stampede whole-heartedly!" said Jennifer Spencer in a Twitter post.
"Absolutely loving the Calgary Stampede rodeo!" said Nicky Nash.
From banana elephant ears to deep fried Oreos wrapped with bacon, many posted photos of the high-calorie food popular at the Calgary Stampede.
