Benjamin Levin Arrest: U of T Professor And Kathleen Wynne Team Member, Facing Child Pornography Charges

Toronto Prof And Member Of Premier's Transition Team Arrested On Child Porn Charges

Benjamin Levin, a University of Toronto professor and member of Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne's transition team, has been arrested on child pornography charges.

Arrested Monday, the 61-year-old faces two counts of distributing child pornography and one count each of making child pornography, counselling to commit an indictable offence and agreeing to or arranging for a sexual offence against a child, according to a police press release.

Levin is a professor at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. He also served as deputy minister of education from 2004 to 2009 under former premier Dalton McGuinty.

After Kathleen Wynne became leader of the Ontario Liberals in February, the Toronto Star reports, Levin was appointed to her transition team.

Toronto's Sex Crimes Unit arrested Levin at his home near Lawrence Ave. West and Avenue Rd. on Monday morning, according to CBC News.

Levin will appear in court Monday afternoon.
