Flooding reports emerge as Toronto again hit by heavy rain

A line of storms is slowly rolling through the Toronto area in the early part of Monday evening, dumping heavy rain upon the city.

The CBC's Claire Martin reported that the storms had made their way into the Toronto area shortly before the supper hour.

"Nasty storms, but primarily it’s because they are moving so slowly that we’ve got this issue of localized flooding," she said.

Toronto police were urging the public to be careful on the roads when driving home:

Toronto Hydro says that the rain may cause some local outages. Just before 6 p.m. ET, its website was showing a handful of small outages around the city.

Martin said that severe thunderstorm warnings are in effect for some areas well north of the city, in the Barrie area.
