Rob Ford's Toronto Flood Response Criticized On Twitter

How Is Rob Ford Handling Toronto's Flood?

Toronto might have weathered Monday's record-breaking storm but how is Toronto Mayor Rob Ford handling this most recent crisis?

Not very well, if reactions from Torontonians on Twitter are any indications. Most of the criticism came from what the mayor was reportedly doing when the worst of the rains and flooding paralyzed the city's roads and transit system and also caused blackouts across the region on Monday evening.

The Sun's Don Peat tweeted that the mayor was with his kids and in his SUV rather than coordinating disaster relief, informing the public or whatever it is big city mayors do in times of crises.

Peat later tweeted that the mayor also reportedly drove around Etobicoke and visited residents hit by flooding.

Tweeter Kat Langdon pointed out that Mississauga's mayor Hazel McCallion was giving updates to the media at 1:00 a.m. McCallion is 92-years-old.

And last night plenty of people on Twitter joked that Calgary's mayor Naheed Nenshi should come to Toronto to help manage this disaster.

Ford angered even more people at a press conference on Tuesday when he said that "I don’t think any city could have handled what we just went through." Calgary, of course, was recently hit by floods that wrecked significant portions of that city's downtown core.
