The most expensive property sale in Whistler since 2008 was agreed on this week after an international buyer paid $10 million for a house located in the luxury Stonebridge neighbourhood.

"This is not a cookie-cutter product," listing agent Ann Chiasson of Re/MAX Sea to Sky Real Estate told The Huffington Post B.C. "This is a very unique property".

Indeed: "Glengordon" is a five-bedroom, five-bathroom home which boasts a tennis court, pool, putting green, movie-screening room, and a 1,200 square foot guest house.

Though the $10 million closing price is the highest seen in the municipality in five years, Chiasson noted that the Stonebridge property was on the market for "a couple of years" before it sold, and that the original listing price was $15.7 million.

"The list price is irrelevant," she explained. "It's about testing the market... You have to find that high end buyer".

Though most people in the province see Whistler as B.C.'s ultimate tony resort, Chiasson said that some perspective was required in relation to the property market.

"I don't see Whistler as the ultra-high end elite like Aspen," she said. "In the entire history of Whistler, there have only been six sales of $10 million or more."

She was also cautious in interpreting the sale as evidence of any kind of trend.

"It's a very difficult thing to say, although sales volume is definitely improving," she noted. "The message here is that there is confidence in our market."
