EDMONTON - The owner of a pitbull terrier in Edmonton is in the city bylaw doghouse after the canine decided to test the power of its bite on a police officer's leg.

The officers were called to an overnight disturbance at a central-area apartment.

Police say they almost had the situation under control when the dog came out of a room and attacked.

The officers couldn't use their guns to stop the animal because they were inside the apartment.

The bite just broke the officer's skin, and animal control staff were called in to collar the pitbull.

Police say criminal charges are unlikely. (CHED)
