PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. - According to the saying, lightning never strikes the same place twice, and that's just fine with Prince George, B.C., resident Nels Hansen — besides, he's already purchased his lottery tickets.

Hansen was hit by a bolt of lightning during a rain storm in Prince George on Wednesday night.

The charge travelled through his umbrella and down his left arm, causing his arm and hand to seize for several minutes, but otherwise leaving him unhurt.

He says there was no warning, only a sudden sound like water hitting an overheated pan, and minor damage to the umbrella.

As soon as Hansen realized he was okay and the shock, both literal and figurative, wore off, he says he rushed out to buy two lottery tickets.

His friends agree Hansen is lucky, noting several people were holding umbrellas and standing near the bleachers and wire fence beside him, and they also walked away uninjured. (CKPG)
