Past work: Worked as a financial agent, adviser, consultant and political organizer.

Political experience: Worked as the Manitoba campaign manager for Stephen Harper's leadership bid for the Conservative Party in 2004. She also advised several members of Parliament and served as chief organizer for the Conservatives in Manitoba. First elected as a Conservative MP for the Manitoba riding of Portage-Lisgar in October 2008. Re-elected in 2011. Named parliamentary secretary to the public safety minister in May 2011.

Did you know? She went by Candice Hoeppner until switching back to her birth name last year — and yes, she says she's heard all the "Murphy Brown" jokes.
