Cory Monteith Vigil: Memorials Planned In Canada And The U.S. (VIDEO)

Monteith Vigils In Canada, U.S. Tonight

Fans and friends of actor Cory Monteith will attend candlelight vigils in Canada and the U.S. Friday night to remember the "Glee" actor who was found dead last Saturday in Vancouver.

In Canada, there are vigils taking place in Vancouver, Victoria and Toronto.

Vancouver's vigil will be held outside the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel, where Monteith's body was discovered, and where fans have been leaving tributes all week, reports The Province.

The Victoria vigil will be held at 9 p.m. at Clover Point Park, while in Toronto, fans will gather at Maple Leaf Square at 8 p.m., reports City News Toronto.

Vancouver vigil organizer Karleigh Walker was inspired to set up the memorial after noting that similar events were taking place in New York and Los Angeles, but not in the city where Monteith spent so much time, she told CBC News.

"Vancouver was a really big part of his life. While he wasn't born here, he definitely spent a lot of his time here and everything, and I feel like we should definitely honour that part and take pride," she said.

Monteith was found dead in his hotel room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim last Saturday. The B.C. Coroners Service later revealed that he had alcohol and heroin in his system when he died.

Fans have since dropped off flowers, pictures and notes remembering the deceased actor at a memorial outside the hotel.

In Touch Weekly reports that Monteith's closest friends have organized an informal memorial at the actor's house in Los Angeles for Friday night.

"Everyone is going to tell funny stories and bring photos, " a neighbour told the magazine.
