VANDERHOOF, B.C. - Mounties are warning drivers to be careful around construction zones after a flagman was struck by a pick-up truck near Vanderhoof, B.C.

RCMP say the 41-year-old flagman was working along Highway 16 when a grey Chevrolet pick-up truck hit him.

He was taken to a hospital in Prince George, about a hundred kilometres away, with multiple fractures.

Police say speed does not appear to be a factor in the accident.

It appears the 76-year-old driver just didn't follow or note the flagman's directions when he turned into the construction zone.

Police are now asking for help from witnesses who may have seen the driving patterns of the pick-up truck driver.
