Hampstead issues boil-water advisory

The town of Hampstead is asking its residents to boil their drinking until at least Monday.

According to a statement issued by the town, the most recent test of a sample taken from the Atwater filtration plant wasn’t up “to our usual high standards” after the facility performed upgrade work.

Residents should boil their water for at least a minute.

Non-boiled water can be used for hygiene and other household purposes, but residents are asked to perform activities like brushing their teeth and washing their vegetables using boiled or bottled water.

Because the laboratory that tests the water quality is closed on the weekend, the residents of Hampstead will have to wait until Monday to know whether their drinking water is safe to consume.
