The royal baby may be the latest bundle of joy for Prince William and Kate Middleton but it's also a secret blessing for bargain-hunting travellers.

Earlier this week, popular landmarks like the C.N. Tower, Trafalgar Square and Niagara Falls have lit up blue as a tribute to the Prince of Cambridge. Now it seems royal baby fever has caught on with the rest of the travel and tourism industry.

European airlines have been the quickest to cash in on Monday's big news with free airfare for newborns. Both British Airlines and Ryanair have offered free airfare for any infant under the age of two, provided parents book the tickets before July 23, 2012. Ryanair's “Ryan-Heir” promo is estimated to save travelling parents nearly $50 per infant for each flight, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Travelling parents in need of more booking time can check out British Airways' promo which offers the same discount but runs from August 1 to September 30th. There's one catch: it's only available for travellers flying out of India to the United Kingdom. Who says loyalty to Queen and Country is dead?

Hotels in the United Kingdom are also taking advantage of the royal baby, offering everything from free bottles of Prosecco to steep discounts on rental properties, notes the Daily Mail. Closer to home Pacifica Hotel Co, a chain of Californian hotels unveiled their "It's a Boy!" sale, which gives travellers a 20 per cent discount provided they book before the end of the day Friday.
