Teen charged in Tsawwassen 'hug and run' attacks

A 14-year-old male has been arrested and charged with six counts of sexual assault in the Tsawwassen area, Delta police say.

Delta police Sgt. Ciaran Feenan said the teen allegedly grabbed women from behind or hugged them before running away.

"In all cases, the suspect had run up behind unsuspecting females in the community and had either grabbed their buttocks, or had bear hugged them around their waist and their breasts," he said in a written statement.

The arrest comes a month after police appealed to the public for information about the series of assaults.

Police are still looking for other potential victims of the teen, who is not being named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Anyone with information is asked to call Delta Police at 604-946-4411 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
