Sammy Yatim Video: Enhanced Footage Of Toronto Streetcar Shooting (GRAPHIC)

GRAPHIC: Shocking Enhanced Video Of Toronto Streetcar Shooting

Shocking new enhanced video of the shooting of Sammy Yatim on a Toronto streetcar early Saturday morning is prompting angry reactions on social media.

The video appears to show the 18-year-old Yatim brandishing a knife and calling a police officer a "fucking pussy." Police repeatedly tell Yatim to "drop the knife" before opening fire. Police fire nine shots.

WARNING: The videos contain graphic violence and language that might be disturbing to some readers.

Yatim was subsequently taken to hospital where he died from his injuries. Few other details of the shooting have be released, but a release from the Special Investigations Unit Monday confirmed a stun gun was also used on Yatim.

At a press conference Monday, Toronto police chief Bill Blair said his force will do all it can to explain how and why Yatim was killed.

Blair said he understands the public has many questions about police conduct after the incident was captured on video, and he says the "tragic death" is being taken very seriously.

The footage of the incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many arguing that police could have simply waited Yatim out rather than shooting him.

A Facebook group entitled "Sammy's Fight Back For Justice" already has more than 5,000 fans.

A vigil has been planned for Monday night starting at Yonge and Dundas Square at 5:00 pm and then moving to the location of the shooting at Dundas St. and Bellwoods Ave, close to Trinity Bellwoods Park.

You can read some of the angry reactions to the shooting in the slideshow below.
