NANAIMO, B.C. - A 1923 antique wooden boat stolen from a marina in Nanaimo, B.C., has been recovered and is back in its usual spot.

But a 41-year-old man suspected in the heist at 4 a.m. Tuesday landed himself in court several hours later.

RCMP Const. Gary O'Brien says a caretaker at the marina called police after seeing the nearly 11-metre vessel steaming out at a high rate of speed.

O'Brien says officers used binoculars to spot the boat and kept track of it until a police vessel could be launched.

Several officers aboard the police boat caught up with the stolen vessel and arrested a man from Vancouver about an hour after the theft.

O'Brien says the beautiful white boat is in immaculate condition, expect for its faulty motor.
