Arson suspected in Chambly house fire

A home in Chambly is a total loss after flames spread from a truck to the structure in what police are calling a suspicious fire.

The fire started at around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday on Doody Street in the South Shore community.

A truck parked in a driveway beside the home ignited and the flames spread.

A man in his 50s escaped the home unharmed.

Other homes in the area were evacuated as a precaution.

Investigators haven’t confirmed what started the blaze.

The arson squad is expected on the scene later today.
