OTTAWA - Consumers are being warned to avoid eating Igor brand Gorgonzola Cheese because the product may be contaminated with Listeria.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says the Italian-made cheese is sold in 1.5 kilogram packages but may have also cut into smaller packages by some retailers.

This product was distributed in Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and New Brunswick but the CFIA says it may have been distributed in other provinces.

There are no reported illnesses linked to eating this cheese, which was imported by Agropur of St-Hubert, Que.

Food contaminated with Listeria may not look or smell spoiled but it can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea.
