Amber Alert in Niagara Region for 9-year-old U.S. boy

Police have issued an Amber Alert for nine-year-old Joseluis Resendiz, an American citizen believed abducted in the Niagara Region of southern Ontario last night.

Joseluis Resendiz was last seen wearing a blue soccer T-shirt (Messi-Barcelona), blue plaid shorts and blue Adidas running shoes, and is described as:

- Hispanic.

- Four-foot-six.

- Weighing 65 pounds.

- Has dark hair.

- Has a birthmark on his left wrist and a metallic replacement tooth on the right side of his mouth.

Niagara Regional Police Service is trying to locate Tivisay Rojas-Castano, the boy's mother, and his uncle, Edison Rojas-Castano, in relation to an abduction.

Went missing on Marineland trip

Const. Derek Watson said the child was reported missing Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET.

The boy and his father are U.S. citizens who live in Georgia, and were in Niagara Falls for a family visit to Marineland.

“The biological mother and her brother separated from the group with the boy and that’s when he was last seen,” Watson told CBC News.

“Any time that we have a child taken without explanation, we have some concerns,” for their safety, said Watson.

The mother “is estranged from the boy and they [had] not seen each other in four or five years,” he said.

Police say both adults are believed to have fled the Niagara Falls, Ont., with Joseluis in a grey four-door sedan. They say the two have ties to Toronto as well as Hamilton, and may be in either city.

Tivisay Rojas-Castano is a 40-year-old Hispanic woman, and is five feet tall and weighs 145 pounds. He has long blond hair and was last seen wearing a green dress, red belt and blue sandals.
