Rodney Ominayak Charged After Shot Fired At Police

CADOTTE LAKE, Alta. - RCMP have charged a northern Alberta man with attempted murder after someone fired a rifle at police.

Police say an officer was responding to a call about a suspected impaired driver Wednesday but the driver fled.

Police say when the officer pursued a man allegedly fired a rifle round at the constable.

The officer returned fire, but no one was hit.

Rodney Ominayak, 29, of Little Buffalo also faces impaired driving, driving while disqualified and other charges.

He was being held in custody pending an Aug. 12 court hearing in Peace River.
