The two-day Veld Music Festival is bringing some of the top artists in the electronic dance music (EDM) genre including the Toronto-based Deadmau5 to the stage this weekend.
Organizers say that throughout the weekend, some 50,000 people will show up at Downsview Park to see them.
They also say that they putting drugs and electronic dance music into the same category is a stereotype, though they have taken steps to prevent problems at the festival.
"We have a no-drug policy and it’s definitely one of the things that we keep our eye on," organizer Talal Farisi told CBC News on Saturday.
The Veld website informs those planning to attend the festival cannot bring illegal substances with them.
Security checks have been conducted at the park and pamphlets have been distributed to educate attendees about the dangers of drug use.
