Police charge youth with second-degree murder of man in remote northern Alberta

JOHN DOR PRAIRIE, Alta. - Police have charged a youth with second-degree murder after a man was shot in a home on a remote northern Alberta community.

RCMP and North Peace Tribal Police Service officers responded Monday to reports of a shooting in John D'or Prairie.

The 48-year-old man died at the scene of multiple gunshot wounds.

The age of the youth was not released.

Police say the firearm that was used in the shooting has been recovered.

The youth has been remanded in custody pending an Aug. 20 court hearing in nearby Fort Vermilion.
