HALIFAX - The Nova Scotia government says a property company has donated a piece of land near Halifax to the province.

The Natural Resources Department says W.M. Fares Properties has donated 22 acres of land in Upper Tantallon, which borders the Five Bridge Lake Wilderness Area.

Natural Resources Minister Charlie Parker says it will be used for outdoor activities such as hiking, hunting and fishing.

A news release says a river in the area serves as a habitat for brook trout and other wildlife.
