The 33-year-old native of Kazakhstan signed a two-year deal with Astana Barys of the KHL on Thursday, the club announced.
He was coming off a four-year, $16.25-million US contract with Winnipeg.
Antropov spent the past four seasons with the Atlanta Thrashers-Jets franchise, and amassed six goals and 12 assists in 40 games last year for Winnipeg.
The six-foot-six, 245-pound unrestricted free agent was originally drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round (10th overall) in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
In 788 career regular-season NHL games over 13 seasons with the Leafs, Thrashers, Jets and Rangers, Antropov has 193 goals and 465 points.
He's the fifth NHLer to join the KHL this off-season. Ilya Kovalchuk, Alexei Ponikarovsky, Alex Burmistrov, and Kurtis Foster have all headed overseas.Suggest a correction
