Man arrested in raids linked to fatal west-end shooting

A man was arrested following raids connected to a fatal shooting earlier this week in an area west of High Park, say Toronto police.

Dozens of officers, including homicide investigators and rifle-wielding swat teams, executed search warrants early this morning around the neighbourhood of Swansea Mews, by Windermere Avenue and The Queensway.

A young man in jeans and a bright red shirt was led away in plastic handcuffs.

There is no word yet on whether he is being charged with any offence, but police at 11 Division said they will be holding a news conference at 11 a.m. ET.

On Monday, as paramedics and police were heading to the Swanswea Mews area for an unrelated incident, shots were fired in the region. Emergency personnel subsequently found a man shot in the chest, said police. He was declared dead after being taken to a hospital.

A number of children witnessed the shooting.

The man was later identified as 26-year-old Christopher Kotsopoulos of Toronto.

Kotsopoulos's obituary, published Friday, said he had three young children. His funeral is scheduled for Monday.
