Toronto police chief to speak on 'use of force'

Toronto police Chief Bill Blair is set to make "a major announcement" about the way his officers deploy force and respond when dealing with emotionally disturbed persons.

On Monday afternoon, police issued a news release saying that Blair would speak to the media at 4 p.m. ET.

The announcement comes just weeks after police shot a Toronto teenager on a TTC streetcar, an incident that was caught on video and posted online.

The death of 18-year-old Sammy Yatim outraged many Torontonians and prompted hundreds of people to take part in a protest march.
