Baby born on Highway 40

A brand new Montrealer entered the world this morning in a rather unusual place.

The baby, a healthy boy, was delivered by his father in a car on the side of Highway 40.

Quebec provincial police got the call at about 4 a.m. this morning from the woman’s husband.

The man told police that his wife was about to give birth in the car near the Stinson Street exit in St-Laurent.

“When the police officer arrived, the baby was already in the arms of his mother,” said Sûreté du Québec Sgt. Audrey-Anne Bilodeau.

“The police officer kept the mother and the baby warm – their second, actually, from what we’ve heard."

The family was taken by ambulance to St. Mary’s hospital.
