CLEARWATER, B.C. - BC Coroners Service has identified Kaslo, B.C., resident Alice Bernice Gilbert as the camper who died at Murtle Lake, near Clearwater, after a tree fell on her.

The sixty-six-year-old was camping with family and friends at Wells Gray Provincial Park last Friday when a 38-metre-tall tree suddenly crashed on her tent while she was inside.

The incident happened around five in the morning.

The coroners service says other campers called for help right away, but Gilbert could not be saved.

Both the RCMP and the coroners service are investigating the death.
