Janet Jones Wedding Photo: Will Paulina Gretzky Channel Mom's '80s Dress?

LOOK: Wayne Gretzky & Janet Jones' Old Wedding Photo

It was the Canadian royal wedding seen across the country.

When NHL hero Wayne Gretzky married American Playboy model Janet Jones on July 16, 1988, in Edmonton, Alta., women everywhere mourned the loss of a hottie bachelor and quietly planned their future weddings with Jones' excessive '80s gown in mind.

Fit to rival Princess Diana's extravagant wedding gown, Jones' dress featured long poofed sleeves which would make Anne Shirley jealous, an extravagant lace choker, a white tiara with an embroidered and jeweled veil and of course, plenty of ruffles.

Now that Wayne and Janet's daughter Paulina Gretzky has gotten engaged to boyfriend Dustin Johnson, we have to wonder whether the high-maintenance party girl will look to mom's wedding dress for inspiration for her upcoming nuptials. (Do they make wedding dresses in bikini shape?)

While we don't know what the smitten Instagram star will wear on her big day, we can be sure that Lil' P will emulate mom and dad's extravagant wedding.

The celebration, which reportedly cost more than $1-million, was broadcast live in Canada from St. Joseph's Basilica and members of the Fire Department acted as guards at the church steps.

Celebrity guests included hockey stars Gordie Howe and Paul Coffey along with actor Alan Thicke (father of singer Robin Thicke), who was a longtime friend of the Gretzkys.

Our dream scenario for Paulina and Dustin's wedding? Paulina in a white two-piece, on Leonardo DiCaprio's yacht, surrounded by Canadian celebrities such as Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger.

Only in our dreams!
