Man faces attempted murder charge after attack in Saint-Laurent

A 41-year-old woman is in hospital with serious head injuries after she was struck several times with a blunt object in Saint-Laurent Monday night.

Police say they expect to charge a 56-year-old man with attempted murder.

Montreal police spokesperson Const. Danny Richer says they believe the woman was struck repeatedly—possibly with a hammer.

"She was injured to her head but her life is not in danger," said Richer.

The attack happened in an apartment near the intersection of Côte-Vertu and Duguay street.

Richer says police are now trying to determine the link between the suspect and the victim.
