Tim Hortons Lids Letter Prompts Suggestion From Company

Tim Hortons Offers Solution To Pesky Lid Problem

Tim Hortons coffee lid haters rejoice? The company says if you really can’t stand their flat lids, you have the option to ask for a different kind.

The coffee chain addressed complaints after Calgarian Bryan Hansen’s letter ranting about its lids went viral last week. The teasing letter, which called the lid problem “the worst thing to happen to Canadian popular culture... since Avril Lavigne married Chad Kroeger,” complained of spills and mild burns and asked Tim Hortons to redesign its lids.

In response, Tim Hortons spokesperson Michelle Robichaud said customers who are unsatisfied with the regular coffee lids could ask for better ones.

“We encourage any of our guests who might prefer a dome style lid to request it when they place their order,” she told the Financial Post in an email.

On Facebook, Hansen commented, “I don't think you should have to specifically request something other than a death trap to contain your beverage, but at least there's progress being made!”

The dome-style lids come on several espresso and latte drinks, which are offered in the majority of Tim’s “traditional restaurants,” according to the Financial Post.

Last week, Hansen ordered a cup with a latte lid, according to the Canadian Press.

“It almost solved the problem for me," he said. "I was really impressed."

Do you think Tim Hortons’ solution is sufficient? Should the company redesign its lids? Tell us in the comment section.
