Ex-Leaf Mikhail Grabovski signs 1-year deal with Caps: report

The Washington Capitals have signed former Maple Leaf Mikhail Grabovski to a one-year contract, according to reports.

The Belarussian centre, who spent the last five seasons in Toronto, signed a five-year, $27.5 million extension with the Leafs in March last year before being bought out by the team in July 2013.

Reports from a television network in Belarus said the deal is worth $3 million.

Grabovski scored nine goals and had seven assists in 48 games for the Maple Leafs last season.

The 29-year-old has 94 goals and 217 points in 367 games in the NHL with Toronto and the Montreal Canadiens.
