You guys, the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival is almost upon us!

The celebrity-laden TIFF, which runs from Sept. 5 to Sept. 15, is one of our favourite times of the year (second only to the Oscars) and we can't wait to see what the stars will wear on the red carpet.

While we're excited to see whether Marion Cotillard will blow us away with her super-chic Parisian haute couture or if Jennifer Aniston and Julia Roberts will have a fashion face-off, it's times like this, just before TIFF kicks off, where we look back to previous years to reminisce about the most memorable red carpet moments.

The prestigious festival brings out the risk-taker in normally conservative celebrities. Take Kristen Stewart's embroidered Zuhair Murad Couture dress which she rocked on the TIFF 2012 red carpet. Not only was it her first red carpet appearance post-Robert Pattinson cheating scandal but it reinforced her stature as a style chameleon. (We're just glad she didn't wear chucks and a baseball hat).

And then of course, there's the often imitated, never duplicated Tilda Swinton, who always leaves us wondering what she's wearing and whether we could pull it off too. (The answer is usually no).

So, in honour of TIFF 2013, we take a look back at the most memorable red carpet looks which leave us wanting more.
