Fall TV 2013: Canadian Shows, American Shows And Channels To Watch

Get Your Remote Controls Ready, Canada
Shaw Media

The summer may be over, but don't despair.

The small screen has many wonderful shows to offer for Fall TV 2013-14, including some homegrown creations. For those of you into the reality side of things, there's no dearth of material: returning are "The Bachelor Canada" and "Big Brother Canada" for their second seasons, and brand-new shows include "MasterChef Canada" and "Storage Wars Canada."

If you like scripted series, there are some original Canadian shows on the docket. "Played," which will air on CTV Thursdays at 10 p.m. starting October 3, follows an undercover police unit as it infiltrates different criminal organizations through different case stories (i.e. - "plays). "Spun Out" (premiering on CTV) and "Package Deal" (over on City), hit the Canadian comedy funnybone with Dave Foley in the former and Harland Williams in the latter. "Crossing Lines" on CBC stars Canadian acting legend Donald Sutherland; as the title insinuates, the show looks at a detective unit that solves cross-border crimes. It has already aired in the U.S., but Canadians can finally get a glimpse when it premieres this fall.

Canadians are even making their mark in American shows -- not that that's anything new. In fact, in three separate major network shows (which will also be airing here in Canada) are featuring Canadian stars as the leads. Michael J. Fox (obviously) stars in "The Michael J. Fox Show," airing on Global TV, Tricia Helfer is the lead in "Killer Women" on City, and "Watchmen" star Malin Akerman fronts "Trophy Wife," which airs on CTV.

So rest assured, we're represented across the board. Here are some new and returning shows on each network:
