Police say the woman was flagged down by a man and woman in a grey car in the 7600 block of 117th Street at about 1 p.m. PT on August 31.
The female suspect got out of the car while asking the victim for directions and distracted the elderly woman by putting a piece of jewelry in her hand.
The suspect then grabbed the victim’s left hand, stealing a ring and watch without her knowledge, before fleeing in the car.
The ring has seven individual 0.9-carat diamonds in a cluster mounted on a wide gold band.
The female suspected is described as being around 45 to 55 years old with medium to dark skin and long, curly hair.
The male suspect is being in the same age range, also with medium to dark skin and short black hair.
Police say the so-called distraction theft is similar to several others in the Lower Mainland in recent months.
Delta police are reminding people to be cautious, not to allow strangers into personal space, to hide jewelry under clothing while in public and report any suspicious activity to police.
Anyone with information about the ring is asked to call the Delta Police Department at 604-946-4411 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
