Former Quebec cabinet minister Michel Page dead at 63

MONTREAL - Michel Page (pah-ZHAY`), a former Liberal cabinet minister in Quebec, has died at the age of 63 following a lengthy illness.

Page served for 19 years in the Quebec legislature and represented the riding of Portneuf, between Quebec City and Trois-Rivieres, from 1973 to 1992.

A lawyer by training, Page was a minister of education in the Robert Bourassa government when it returned to power in 1985.

He also served as Quebec‘s minister of agriculture before being named the chief whip of the official opposition in the 1980s.
