A man has been charged in connection to the shooting of a gas station clerk who was hit in the face and hand by a shotgun blast.

Jeffrey Lyle Geary has been charged with attempted murder and multiple weapons related offences.

Police say the 30-year-old turned himself in Friday at the RCMP detachment in Blackfalds, Alta.

Police allege Geary walked into a Fas Gas outlet in the West Park area of Red Deer Wednesday night with a sawed-off shotgun and demanded cash.

After he got the money the suspect allegedly shot the clerk and then fled on a bicycle.

The victim was recovering in a Calgary hospital after multiple surgeries and was listed in critical but stable condition.

RCMP had released a photo of the suspect and asked for the public's help in identifying him after the incident.

Geary has been charged with five weapons related offences including attempted murder, robbery with a prohibited firearm, possession of a weapon, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm and possession of a stolen prohibited firearm.

He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
