TERRACE, B.C. - A 29-year-old man is awaiting a Wednesday court date in Prince George, B.C., after being charged in connection with a deadly weekend shooting in Terrace, nearly 600 kilometres to the west.

Mounties in Terrace say Travis Stephens was picked up Sunday following an extensive search around that northwestern B.C. city.

He has been charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder, linked to a Saturday afternoon attack in the Terrace-area suburb of Thornhill.

Investigators say 27-year-old Eric Cardinal died and a 29-year-old woman was injured but she has since been released from hospital.

The shooting is believed to be drug related.

Police say all three people are known to them and the victims also knew their assailant.
