WINNIPEG - A third contestant has joined the race for the leadership of the Manitoba Liberal Party.

Bob Axworthy says he wants to lead the party and focus on areas including poverty, human rights and the economy.

Axworthy is the brother of longtime former federal cabinet minister Lloyd Axworthy, and finished a strong second in a byelection last year to Tory Leader Brian Pallister.

The other candidates in the race are lawyer Rana Bokhari and business owner Dougald Lamont.

The Liberals, who currently have just one seat in the legislature, will pick their new leader Oct. 26.
