Police allege drunk dad pushed son in bid to avoid arrest

A father and son became "heavily intoxicated" at a bar in Barrie, Ont., an event which prompted a call to police on Saturday night and resulted in a failed attempt by the elder man to avoid his pending arrest.

Barrie police say that officers arrived at the bar and attempted to escort the father and son from the bar.

During that process, police allege that the father "pushed his son into police in an attempt to thwart the arrest."

The 37-year-old father was arrested for obstructing police and with being intoxicated in a public place.

Police say he was held until he became sober and was later released.
