Toronto police say they were called to the Empire nightclub at 50 Cumberland St., at about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday for a reported shooting.
When police responded to the shooting, they saw people fleeing the scene.
Police say that "some people" were found at the scene with non-life threatening gunshot wounds and were taken to hospital. Other wounded persons showed up at hospital on their own.
A 26-year-old man was found near the scene with a loaded handgun. Police say he has been charged with "a number of firearm offences" and he is due to appear in court on Monday.
Police are urging any other wounded parties to seek medical attention and to contact them.
