LETHBRIDGE, Alta. - A truck driver from British Columbia has been charged with careless driving after his rig flipped trying to turn in southern Alberta.

Police in Lethbridge say the rig hit the concrete barrier on an off-ramp to Highway 3.

The semi's load — 26,000 tonnes of plate glass — shifted, causing the rip to fall onto its side.

Police say most of the glass smashed, the rig had extensive damage and leaked engine fluids.

The 33-year old driver man from Coquitlam, B.C., was uninjured.
