Canucks lose Alex Burrows to lower-body injury

The Canucks' No. 1 line will have a different look for the next two weeks.

On Saturday, Vancouver coach John Tortorella confirmed winger Alex Burrows, who plays alongside Daniel and Henrik Sedin on the club's top unit, will be out with a lower-body injury.

"He's going to be out a couple of weeks, that's where we are going to leave it right now," Tortorella told

The 32-year-old native of Pincourt, Que., was hurt blocking a shot while killing a penalty in the team's 4-1 loss to San Jose Thursday night.

While Tortorella was non-committal on the nature of Burrows's ailment, reports have suggested he suffered a foot injury.

Burrows scored 13 goals in the lockout-shortened campaign last year and is a four-time 20-goal scorer. Originally undrafted, he scored a career high 35 goals in 2009-10 and is a plus-130 overall in just over eight seasons — all with the Canucks.
