One man is in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being shot while driving on a busy thoroughfare in South Vancouver Tuesday afternoon.

Vancouver Police said shots were fired at the driver of one car by at least one occupant of another car at around 3:30 p.m. PT as the two vehicles headed east on S.E. Marine Drive, just east of Knight Street.

UPDATE: The 32-year-old victim in a drive-by shooting on Marine Drive is expected to recover from his injuries. The incident was a targeted shooting, Vancouver police said in a news release.

Police closed the road between Argyle Street and Victoria Drive to begin an investigation.

"It is too early to determine the motive behind the shooting or if it is gang-related," a written statement from Const. Brian Montague said.

Police are asking any witnesses who saw either of the two cars involved to contact the major crime section at (604) 717-2541.
