Los Angeles Kings goalie Jonathan Quick is one of the best goalies in the NHL. But on Monday night he made a mistake that might haunt him for some time.
In the third-period the Kings, trailing 2-1 to the New York Rangers, went on the power play. The Kings lost an offensive zone face-off and the puck was cleared down the ice by Rangers defenceman Ryan McDonagh. Quick skated out to play the puck, lost his stick and somehow the puck bounced off the star netminder and into the net.
“My stick fell out of my hand. I tried to stop it with my blocker and it hit my blocker,” Quick told Sportsnet.
Many on Twitter are calling it the worst goal in NHL history. And here it is from another angle in GIF form.

Don't feel bad Johnny. That kind of goal happens to every NHL goalie at one time or another. Here's Martin Brodeur's blooper goal from the 2003 Stanley Cup Finals.
